History of IBS - Innovative Business SoftwareInnovative Business Software A/S was founded in 1982 as IBS. The aim was to streamline the alarm monitoring at alarm receiving centres and control centres using the latest technology. By dramatically raising the productivity, we created an entirely new market for control centres, as the price of a connection could be reduced sufficiently to be really able to sell connections to private homes. The foundation for the last 25 years of steady growth in the number of connections to the control centres was created.
IBS and the first systems
IBS provides their first system, an IBM Series 1-based alert system for alarm handling, servicing and billing, quickly earned us a breakthrough with major foreign customers and through the use of new technologies, secured significant market share in the expanding security market.
IBS becomes supplier to Emergency Call CentreThe entry of the PCs into the mid 80-s created the basis for developing more affordable systems. Now, smaller installations could also reap the benefits of the new technology. Innovative followed suit and soon introduced the CMS/DOS (PC-control centre). At the same time, IBS began collaboration with the Danish public telephone company about receiving alarms from the dedicated Danish public alarm network ("AlarmNet"). This simple and very stable system, together with the increasing prevalence of the AlarmNet, secured IBS a solid market share in Denmark.
Our considerable experience within the Danish security industry also meant that we at that point took over system responsibility for the software on the emergency services in Copenhagen.
IBS provides larger systems to larger marketsThe spread of UNIX and software for managing relational databases in the late 80's, created unprecedented opportunities for developing systems for major customers. IBS's response was the development of Security Business Networks (SNBs) that - in addition to alarm handling, servicing and billing - could also be expanded with modules to handle marketing, sales, inventory and much, much more. A complete IT solution for large control centres with many subscribers. The new system quickly attracted major new customers in Europe and the U.S., and we found it necessary to open an office in Dallas, Texas.
IBS develops a new Alarm Monitoring Software - interVIEWIn the mid 90's, it was time to make new choices. The requirement for graphical user interfaces dominated. First of all, this resulted in updating the emergency centre in Copenhagen to a new graphical user interface and the subsequent development of a brand new alarm handling system for the control centres. The reason was that you could now acquire relational databases for Windows NT, the latter which was also about to be stable enough to run 24 hours a day. This led to a natural requirement of our current CMS/DOS customers about moving to the new platform. Since the major control centres in Europe were also looking for Windows-based solutions, we decided to move future SBN development to Dallas in order to focus on the development of an alarm handling system based on the new Windows standards in Copenhagen.
To take full advantage of the new technology, we decided to develop the entire system from scratch. This way we made sure that the architecture was properly adapted to the new requirements as well as opportunities. The goal was to develop a system that could meet the requirements of both small and large customers. The keywords were security, flexibility and scalability. The result was interVIEW, which we launched in 1998. We succeeded in meeting the overall objectives and the system has again and again proved to be a great foundation for the continuous development, which is required to meet the continuous changes in the technological opportunities, expectations and requirements.
IBS becomes Innovative Business Software A/SAs a consequence of the organisational changes between Dallas and Copenhagen, the two companies ceased cooperation and a group of loyal employees took over the company in 1999. At the same time, the company in Copenhagen changed its name from IBS to Innovative Business Software A/S or in short form; Innovative. Shortly afterwards, we introduced a brand new IT solution for the Danish National Police Force 112 Emergency Centre. The system proofed such as success that Innovative today provide the alarm handling solutions for all the Emergency Centres in Denmark. The electronic dispatch calls from the Emergency Centres to each national Emergency Management Agency has further consolidated our market and continued development of our software solutions. Today, interVIEW is the absolute market leader in Nordic countries, both within the Danish public emergency as the private security industry. Also, interVIEW continues to conquer market shares abroad, especially in countries where sales to the private control centres are on the rise. Innovative Business Software A/S continues to lead the world in developing reliable and efficient alarm monitoring systems for alarm receiving centre, control centres and Emergency Management Agencies worldwide.
